In determining which topics to cover, other conferences ask for speaker proposals, allowing other people (mostly service providers) to determine which topics merchants want to learn.
Typically have single speaker formats, providing only one perspective & opinion on the topic of the session.
Focus of the sessions are often forward thinking, philosophical in nature; lacking practical information that can be used right away in a business.
Across the agenda, may have up to 20 merchant speakers across a 4-day agenda.
To determine which topics to cover, CNP asks their merchant subscribers which topics they want to learn about, then we reach out to potential speakers who can share their expertise on each topic.
The majority of breakout sessions at the CNP Expo are in panel format, for the purpose of providing 3-5 perspectives and sets of experience on the topic of the session.
Focus of the sessions are to provide practical tips & tricks, to help CNP executives in fraud & payments do their jobs better, as early as the next week.
CNP prides ourselves on having more merchant speakers sharing their knowledge & experience than any competition conference (as far as we can tell!)
Many conferences (especially those put on by associations) have the same merchant companies in attendance year-over-year, creating cliques and an information vaccuum.
Merchant to vendor ratio varies every year
In addition to loyal merchant alumni, CNP attracts hundreds of new CNP merchant companies every year, changing the conversations year-over-year, not making new attendees feel like outsiders and allowing merchants to expand their rolodex every year they attend.
CNP consistently has had more than a 40%-60% merchant to vendor ratio over the last few years.
For association related conferences, many require vendors to be members of the organization to exhibit, limiting the diversity and year-over-year new companies to exhibit; additionally, start-ups & innovative new companies are not always represented.
The CNP Expo staff seek out new & unique product offerings along with attracting the industry standard companies that have been successful in the space to offer an array of products & services in the CNP space.
For conferences by associations that are member based, new attendees have reported feeling like outsiders, incluing not being invited to vendor sponsored events after-hours.
For conferences located in "party capitals", sometimes the evening events can take priority over the education & collaboration during the day.
The CNP Expo is very inclusive; no membership dues are required, all merchants are invited to most vendor parties & dinners and content-specific conversations occur in the hallways of the event all week.
Being based in Orlando provides a great family-friendly atmosphere, while also providing plenty of opportunities for networking & partaking in adult beverages. However, the session rooms are full the next morning, while hundreds of attendees ready to roll up their sleeves to learn more. Content & learning take priority over drinking & pure craziness.
